The goal of Hamilton Our Town (Business Improvement District) is to bring together the local community with the local businesses to create a better environment and boost the economy of the Hamilton area. The BID aims to improve both the appeal and attractiveness of the town centre, which is achieved through the concerted efforts of the people of Hamilton, including its business owners, those who work in or visit the town and organisations with connections to the town.
Hamilton Business Improvement District (BID) approached Made in Scotland to overhaul its digital identity, seeking new branding, a website, and social media management. The goal was to create a platform that allowed businesses within the BID area to connect and provided town customers with access to promotions, events, and information. The project aimed to foster interaction within the Hamilton BID area, helping local businesses and residents stay informed and engaged with what’s happening in the town.
To build a distinctive and recognizable logo for Hamilton BID, we began with thorough research into the organization’s values and target audience. After brainstorming ideas with the client, we created a variety of logo concepts in different colors to align with the brand. Once the final logo was selected, we designed alternate versions for social and print media. The brand identity was then developed using the chosen logo’s color palette, typography, and design elements, ensuring a cohesive look across all platforms.
The new website featured a user-friendly search function that allowed visitors to easily locate businesses within the BID area. We worked closely with Hamilton BID to input each business, complete with detailed information, map locations, and photo galleries. Businesses were categorized by field, enabling users to find the services they need quickly. Our goal was not only to create a functional business directory but also to offer a platform that provided news, events, and updates about the town. The logo, inspired by Hamilton’s Coat of Arms, included a shield with a cinquefoil flower and the letter “H,” with variations for social media, combining modernity and timelessness. The redesigned website was a key tool in boosting Hamilton’s economy by connecting businesses and residents through an engaging, informative platform.
